Day 3 - Too tired to think up a witty title

Well today was a really busy day, but before I tell you about that - I have to tell you more about last night. We were so excited that during the sharing of God Moments during worship time, we had three youth volunteer to tell of times during the day when they saw God working through the people around them.

Okay, back to the work at the house. Well we did alot of dry wall patching and painting.

We took a short break to explore new fashions....

... and then more painting. (I promised some pictures of Cheryl.)

We also did some cleaning. Here Jake and one of the boys that lives at the house work together.

And then we painted....

.... and cleaned...

.. but what about the roof?

Finished!! and beautiful! Check out the roofing crew.

We celebrated with ice cream!

Day 2 - Continuing the work

I know you were all worried, but I did get back to camp in time for dinners. Tacos! Yum ! With something called Kitty Litter for dessert. Yum - but a bit yucky looking.

After dinner, we had a visit from a Story teller from the Cherokee Nation. He told the best and funniest stories. Even better he used "volunteers" from the audience. Do you see a squirrel in that crowd?

After words the women were taught to dance - no pictures because I was dancing. And the men were able to sing us a Cherokee song. I promise video as soon as I get home.

Next morning (today) we were up early and back to our house to work. Look at those eager faces!

We worked on repairing drywall.

Painting!
Some of us tried some new things!

I mean lots of us tried new things!

And then some more painting!

We have spaghetti for dinner and then Cherokee Stomp Dancing!

Day 1 in Tahlequoh, OK

Well here’s the group, can you feel the excitement!! (Well all except Cheryl- I will have to take lots of pictures of her to make up for her missing this shot.)

Hey day 1 and we are hitting the ground running. We volunteered to work on one home that needed a new roof and various indoor repairs. We started putting a new metal roof over the existing roof. We tore out the linoleum out of the kitchen. We prepared several walls for dry walling and discovered that the roof leak had caused some extensive damage in the house. We had to regroup and make sure we included that repair in our plans. Whew, we have a full weeks work in front of us.

Hey, I gotta go - they are going to eat dinner without me!!

More tomorrow!

This adventure began in December at the youth dinner theater. The youth put on a great show and worked hard serving all of the audience. This money was used to help pay for for the Youth Mission.

A big Thank You to everyone involved!!

High School Mission Trip

The high school youth are headed to the Cherokee Nation next week.

I wonder what the weather will be like?

(Temperature is in degree Celsius - it sounds much better that way.)
